When you arrive at the crime scene, you take a look around. You are about half a block west from Kennedy Bridge on the northern bank of Virtual River. The area looks like a dirty wasteland with empty oil barrels and dusty scrubs.
The police already closed the crime scene, and as you enter it, you see the almost naked body of a young woman.

She is lying on her front, the face turned to the right. A dark red rose lies next to her face. Her clothes, sandals and her handbag are found nearby beside a timber fence.

"Detective Kirkwood, I would say it was a pleasure to see you again but it seems we only meet under the worst circumstances." Rachel turned away from kirkwood before he could respond to grab some rubber gloves. "So have the crime scene photographers finished so i can move and touch the body?"

"Rachel Morgan, the CSI's trying to light up my morning again. Yeah, crime scene is all yours. So far, we know it's a white femal body, obviously almost naked. Looks like a sex crime that got all the dirtier, if you ask me. Clothes and handbag lay over there near the timber fence. We have some footprints, in fact a load of 'em, but no blood, no weapons and no witnesses, except for the boat pilot that found the body. He's already at headquarters for questioning."

"Hhhmmm." Rachel mumbled as she walked a wide berth around the body once. She went to the bodys feet and squated to part the bodys legs and get a better look. "Where there any traces of semen found on the body?"

"The body hasn't been examined yet, we were all waiting for you to come. Could please give me a note, when you're finished, so we can get the victim into the morgue?"

"Alright." was the only answer she gave him as she leaned closer looking for any type of bruising or marks from weapons. "Detective." Rachel called for him to approach but kept talking, "Dont you find it strange that there is no blood to be found...at all. I'd say the body was dumped here and the real crime took place in another location." Rachel stood and took off her gloves. "ok well I dont think I will find out anything more from the body here. You can take it to the mourge, I'll go by later and see what Hamilton drags up, Right now I want to talk to the boat pilot..." Rachel trailed off as she walked away towards her car.

"Yeah, okay, if you think so. Will you send someone over to collect all the evidence like the clothes and the handbag? And who'll examine the footprints? I don't think you're finished here yet, Morgan."

Rachel stopped mid step, with her back still to Kirkwood so he wouldnt see her look of irritation. She turned back and got closer to better talk to Kirkwood and not have to yell. "Detective, I an expert on Pathology and blood traces I mainly deal with two things, the dead body and blood. As there is no blood at this crime scene and I wont be able to find out anything else form the body till I get it to the lab, I see no reason to stay. I would rather have someone who new how to lift boot prints do it then myself, unless you want me mesisng with your crime scene?" Rachel let that rant out and realized shortly after that she sounded like a bitch so she said "Look I will send someone as soon as they are avaible, CSI's have busy lives Detective..."

"Well, me and my men are busy too. We can't wait here all day for one of your colleagues to show up. Would it be such a pain to take some plaster and secure that footprint? And how about taking a glove and bagging those clothes? Listen, I'd do it myself, but then your lab rats would once again cry that it wasn't done correctly and that the evidence might have gotten contaminated. And the commissioner might have my rear for not following the rules, and the judge and jury might ignore all evidence and in the end the perpetrator gets away with murder. Do you want that to happen?"

Evey hurries towards her colleagues, being late as she is, only to hear the last few sentences and noticing the annoyed tone of voice.
"No, of course no one would want that, Detective. I'll hurry and take my pictures, and if Rachel would be so kind as to bag the clothes, we can secure the footprints together."
She casts an expecting glance at Rachel while she puts on her gloves and makes her camera ready for the shots.

Rachel gave only a side long glance at Grey as she approached looking rushed. Rachel not liking to be bossed around but also wanting to get it over with replied "Ya, I can do that Grey, also if you need me to i can flip over the body so you can get some pictures of the other side of her body just in case." Rachel walked over to get herself and Evey some gloves. "Let me guess Grey, your late because you were getting coffee?" Rachel said as she grabbed the clothes with tongs and dropped them in the bag.

As you turn the body over, you see a dark blueish black line across the girls throat. Judging from her face, she had been around 20 years old. You have the odd feeling to know her from somewhere...

"Of course I got coffee. You wouldn't want me on a crime scene without a dose, would you?" Evey replies grinning.

"Hold on, I'll make some close ups of her throat and face." she continues, and cowers down carefully avoiding to mess up any footprints.

"hmm... Is it only me, or do you think you know her as well...?"

zentraedi_shep: The Hotel Virtual...

As you enter the hotel, you can see Detective Kirkwood waiting for you in the lobby. He nods to you and comes over.
"Okay, the vic is identified as Alexandra Covic, nicked Sasha, age 22. Waitress in the hotel bar and room service, no known enemies. We have two of her colleagues in the bar. If you'd follow me?"

The bar is empty, quite dark and lighted mostly in blue neon. To your left is the bar, to your right are some tables. On the far end of the 10 times 10 meters room you can see a piano and a Wurlitzer jukebox next to it. A man, the barkeeper, is standing behind the bar. A young woman is sitting at one of the nearby tables, she's crying.

"The barkeeper is Kenneth Cuttler, the vic's ex. The girl over there is another waitress, called Eva van Beuren, originally Dutch. She was close friends with the vic. Who'd you like to ask first?"

Vermeer greets Kirkwood and shots a look at the crying waitress.
"I guess I start with Mr Cuttler and give her a few moments to compose herself."
He introduces himself to the barkeeper.
"Mr Cuttler, I have a few questions to ask you, if you don't mind. When was the last time you saw Miss Covic?"
He takes care to move out of ear shot of Eva van Beuren getting Kenneth Cuttler between himself and the woman, so he can watch them both.

"Well, I guess that was yesterday evening. Her shift was over, and she left for the locker room. Haven't seen her since, but that's no big deal, she has a free day today. Sir, is she really dead? I mean, is it really her?"

Sat, Jun. 24th, 2006 01:21 pm (UTC)
tinchen: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

"I'm really sorry, but I fear so, yes. Did you notice anything unusual lately? Did she seem to be afraid or mention somebody? "

Sun, Jun. 25th, 2006 01:13 am (UTC)
zentraedi_shep: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

"Afraid? No, the only thing she was talking about was this reporter, Josh Harper, one of the regulars here. She said something about a job or such... Besides that, she had no enemies, if you leave all those nerds aside that wank to her website, you know what I mean? Actually, she was kind of a slut, posing in front of a cam, that's why I broke with her."

Sun, Jun. 25th, 2006 05:45 am (UTC)
tinchen: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

Vermeer nodded, a bit surprised and scribbled down notes.
"Did you see Josh Harper here yesterday? And how did she react, when you ended the relationship?"

Mon, Jun. 26th, 2006 05:56 am (UTC)
zentraedi_shep: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

"No, Harper wasn't here. He's working for the Post, perhaps you'll catch him there. When we broke up, she was upset, of course, but we got along quite okay afterwards, being colleagues and such, and it's now about eight months ago. I guess, she had someone new. At least in the last few weeks, she was quite happy."

sandygurl_31: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

Rachel pushed open the doors to Hotel Virtual and took off her shades as she stepped into the cool and dimly lit lobby. She looked around for a few seconds just memorizing her surrounding and saw to her right the bar and two men talking. Recognizing one of them as Vermeer Rachel made her way towards them. She reached them just as the bartender finsished answering a question, "...At least in the last few weeks, she was quite happy." Rachel waited until Vermeer finished his scribbling to touch him on the shoulder to get his attention. "Excuse me gentlemen but I need a word with Mr. Vermeer, It will take only a second I promise." and Rachel turned and walked a short ways away not turning back to see if Vermeer followed or not, becasue she new he would...

Vermeer noded after Rachel and smiled apologetically at the bartender. "Just a minute, sir, I'll be right back", he said and sauntered towards Rachel.
"Rachel, good to see you. How can I help you?" He smiled winningly and crossed his arms before his chest, leaning against the bar.

sandygurl_31: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

"Well actually I was going to ask you that. Is there anyone else around I should question..." Rachels eyes landed on the crying girl sitting at the table and her heart sunk. Rachel hated questioning people when they where crying... "I'm guessing she still needs to be questioned?" said Rachel with a sigh as she gestured toward the girl so Vermeer would know who she was talking about.

"Ah, that might be a very good I dear, Rachel."
Vermeer nodded and looked over to the table where the woman sat.
"Right at the moment I don't have any special ideas, what to ask her, but the bartender was the vicitim's boyfriend a while ago. He says they were on friendly terms, but you could take a look into it, would you?"

sandygurl_31: Re: The Hotel Virtual...

"Ya sure, I'll look into it. I'll start with the girl... might as well get it over with..." Rachel gave Vermeer a small smile and walked towards the girl sitting at the table. Rachel grabbed the chair opposite the girl and sat. Taking out her badge and I.D. and setting it on the table so the girl could see it. "Rachel Morgan, VCPD. I'm sorry but I need to ask you a few questions...Do you need anything? coffee, water, something alittle stronger?" Rachel said feeling throughly uncomfortuable in the entire situation.

Vermeer nodded after Rachel and returned to the bartender.
"Sorry, sir. Did one of the 'nerds' you mention ever contact her, follow her here or anything like that?"
